Special Issue of Microorganisms

The Organizers are glad to announce that a Special Issue of Microorganisms will be dedicated to this Symposium. The Special Issue will be guest edited by dr Troy Skwor & dr Marta Kaszowska. Deadline for manuscript submission is Sep 30, 2023. Participants are welcome to contribute to this Special Issue “Aeromonas and Plesiomonas”. Both regular and review articles will be accepted.

Aeromonas
and Plesiomonas

In the years since the 1st International Symposium on Aeromonas and Plesiomonas on September 5-6, 1986 in Manchester, England, the scientific community has seen significant increase in the number of species identified and included in Aeromonas and Plesiomonas genera. The perception of these bacteria has evolved from a causative agent of important fish diseases and opportunistic human infections to the status of “emerging” pathogens among humans. The evidence for Aeromonas species as a credible cause of diarrhea with a severe impact on pediatric and geriatric populations has been steadily mounting. Plesiomonas is a relatively new genus with many aspects of structural and biological features still to be uncovered. It comprises P. shigelloides bacteria that account for over 10% of all acute travelers’ diarrhea cases and have been implicated in outbreaks of gastroenteritis. The scientific sessions during the ISAP2023 in Wroclaw will cover all aspects of Aeromonas and Plesiomonas: molecular biology, phylogeny, evolution, taxonomy, ecology, virulence factors and pathogenesis.
